a) China is located in eastern Asia, and shares large borders >1300km with the East China Sea to the east; Russia to the northeast; Mongolia to the north; Kazakhstan to the northwest; India and Nepal to the southwest; and Myanmar to the south.  China also shares small borders with North Korea, Kyrgystan Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bhutan, Laos, and Vietnam.  Over 95% of China is north of the Tropic of Cancer and south of 50 degrees N. latitude. Including 1.2 million sq km of the disputed Tibetan Autonomous Region in the Plateau of Tibet in the southwestern part of China. 


c) China's Terrain while diverse is mostly mountainous particularly it's southern borders with India, Nepal, and Pakistan with the largest mountain range in the world, The Himalayas.  The Tibetan Plateau is another large expanse of land that is at elevations above 3000 meters.  Approximately half of the Gobi Desert is in China and is shared with Mongolia to the north. In general the best croplands are found in the southeast and eastern portions of the country near the East China and Yellow Sea.  From (Rand McNally, 1995)   
Only about 11% of the China's land is suitable for agriculture.

China has over 50,000 rivers with many of them originating in the Himalayas and terminating in deltas in eastern China.
